Blizzard announces official YouTube channel
by Alex Ziebart on Sep.30, 2009, under Announcement, L80ETC, blizzard, bornakk, burning-crusade, channel, friends, gameplay, humor, official, social-networking, subscribe, videos, youtube

To go along with their recently created Twitter accounts, Blizzard has now started up an official YouTube channel as well. Right now, the channel just contains animations and cinematics that we’ve mostly seen before (not that we mind watching that Burning Crusade cinematic for the umpteenth time), but we presume that in the future, we might see newly released videos, including possibly interviews with Blizzard staff, and maybe even some (gasp!) gameplay videos as well.
Whoever’s in charge of social media over at Blizzard has really been working it lately — we can’t wait to see their Last.fm account (Most Played: the artists formerly known as Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain) or their OkCupid account (Adam Holisky & Alex Ziebart would be at least 87% friends with Ghostcrawler, no question). Definitely fun to see Blizzard, historically a very closed-door company, opening up a little bit to the various outlets where they can correspond with fans.

Felicia Day on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon
by Alex Ziebart on Sep.30, 2009, under culture, dr-horrible, draenei, felicia-day, gaming-culture, hdtv, internet, jimmy-fallon, late-night-television, network-television, the-guild, web-series, world-of-warcraft
The two chat about their first meeting, where Felicia helped Fallon roll up a draenei, as well as Dr. Horrible and how all of The Guild DVDs are made. And at the end of the interview, Fallon even hooks her up with some tickets to a NY show. Looks like it was a lot of fun, and it’s great to see someone who’s worked so hard on something they love get a nice bit of recognition for it.
Update: Sorry, forgot that Hulu only works in the US. Here’s another video that should work outside the States.

Patch 3.3 PTR: Character copy is up, but not so fast
by Alex Ziebart on Sep.30, 2009, under Public-Test-Realm, blizzard, character-copy, icecrown, patch-3.3, patch-3.3-ptr, soon, testing, wow-patch-3.3, wrath-of-the-lich-king
That said, this is a pretty good sign that the PTR is just around the corner — Blizzard’s got the content in a workable state, and they’re just about ready to let us have a look at it and run it through the ringer for them. Icecrown or bust!
Thanks, Low!

Kebina Trudough here, offering you the best gold making secrets they don’t want you to know about! I was like you once, poor and homely, before I discovered my patented system. Now you too can fill your pockets with the good stuff without ever breaking a sweat! Why spend all your time toiling when you could be vacationing in the Hot Springs? I’m not offering these tips for 100 gold, or 90 gold, or even 50 gold! No, not even 20 gold! My system is yours for FREE! Satisfaction guaranteed or I’ll give you a full refund (handling charges may apply).
Angelfish, that is. Not only are they scrumptious, they’re extremely profitable. How does 80 gold (give or take, depending on your realm) per stack of 20 sound to you?
Time Invested
Set aside 10-30 minutes a day to farm up a stack or two. If no one else is farming Dragonfin Angelfish in the area at the same time, you should be able to knock it off pretty quickly.

Blizzard releases details on Icecrown Citadel
by Alex Ziebart on Sep.30, 2009, under Frozen-halls, arthas, breaking, icecrown, icecrown-citadel, jaina-proudmoore, lich-king, patch-3.3, patch-3.3-changes, patch-3.3-wow, sylvanas, world-of-warcraft-patch-3.3, wow-3.3-changes, wow-new-patch, wow-patch, wow-patch-3.3, wow-patch-news

Looks like patch 3.3 might be closer than we thought. Over on the European site, we have a massive info dump about Icecrown Citadel’s Frozen Halls, a new instance with normal and heroic versions offering iLevel 219 (on Normal) and 232 (on Heroic) gear. It sounds like the new 5 man we were told was coming. (Edited to add: the North American site has caught up to our European brethren.)
It seems that Horde and Alliance each get their own juicy lore goodness in addition to loots, as players will be able to accompany Sylvanas Windrunner or Jaina Proudmoore as they seek a path into the heart of Icecrown Citadel for their individual reasons. (It’s safe to say Sylvanas is probably looking to shoot Arthas a lot.) Once inside the Frozen Halls, players must confront the bosses of the Forge of Souls and the Pit of Saron before finally confronting Arthas himself. Sounds pretty bloody epic to me.
The text indicates that each section will have its own unique means of challenging the players before confronting the bosses. With names like Bronjahm the Godfather of Souls (is that a James Brown reference) and Scourgelord Tyrannus, I think it’s safe to assume we’re not going to be offered tea and crumpets, unless of course they’re evil tea and necromantic crumpets.
So there you have it. Go forth and feast your eyes on screenshots of this ‘massive, sprawling 5 player dungeon’ if I may paraphrase.
Since we know many of you can’t access WoW’s official website at work, the complete details from Blizzard are reproduced after the break.

Encrypted Text: Macro guide for rogues

Every Wednesday, Chase Christian of Encrypted Text invites you to enter the world of shadows, as we explore the secrets and mechanics of the rogue class. This week, we talk about a few of the most common rogue macros in use today.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to play my rogue quite a bit more than I am typically able to. Brewfest and Onyxia have had me busy every night, helping my guild mates slay Coren Direbrew over and over again. I was able to pick up a Direbrew’s Shanker 2.0, although it won’t see much use, it’s still nice to see one in my bank beside the previous versions.
I captured this bit of a World of Logs parse from one of the Onyxia attempts, where I was able to my AoE combination macro: it’s a very deadly combination. Looking at numbers like these make me wonder if perhaps the great FoK nerf of 3.2.2 wasn’t as heavy-handed as it was made up to be. With a Vanish fix on the horizon for patch 3.3 (who’s PTR is coming “soon”) and the red-hot topic of ‘weapon swapping’, I decided to do a bit of housecleaning and tidy up my macros and addons in anticipation.
